Eligibility Requirements
- Rebate incentives are available to builders and developers who build new single-family energy efficiency homes in the North Carolina Piedmont Natural Gas service territory.
- Eligibility for this program is based only on single-family dwellings. Multi-family dwellings are not eligible for this program.
- Builders can choose to participate in one of two incentive options: 1. The whole house HERO option OR 2. The equipment measures only option. The builder is not eligible to receive both the HERO and the equipment measures only rebate combined under this program. For the HERO option, a 90% AFUE furnace must be installed to be eligible.
- For the equipment measures only option, a 95% or higher AFUE furnace must be installed in order to qualify for the smart thermostat rebate.
- For the equipment measures only option, a detailed document showing proof of installation must accompany the application. Examples of proof of installation include, but are not limited to, installation receipts, invoices, contracts and sales receipts. If choosing the HERO option, you might be required to obtain documentation from your Energy Rater stating the home complies with the NC HERO requirements.
- Equipment must be installed at the property where the gas account is located.
- Applications must be submitted within 150 days after the Certificate of Occupancy (C.O.) date.
